My son came into town last night and we had planned to go to Dunlap if the weather allowed.
So he, my sister, and I hit the lake early this morning. It was tough going at first with not
much action and all small fish. We were really wanting to put some fish in the boat for a
fish fry so we kept looking. We finally hit a couple of areas and got some keepers. Also
picked up a couple of catfish. We used both drop shot and quill float methods with worms
and maggots. We ended up with enough for our fish fry and had a great time !

Many thanks to Chuck for helpful pointers for our trip !

Chris

Glad you were able to find some nice fish. thumb When I was fishing Dunlap earlier that week the bite started out very good and then shortly after 2pm it totally stopped. nuts We fished for another hour and did not get anymore. bang

Side Note: Enjoy it now Chris. Once Memorial Day weekend hits that Lake along with Mcqueeney and Placid will be virtually impossible to fish. Ski boats,Jet Fleas, party boats, and wake boats take over until after Labor Day in September. realmad

Thanks for the comments guys !

Chuck -- there was one wake boat that came by a few times and my jon boat
was like a bucking bronco when the waves hit. I can imagine that when boat traffic
really get going it will be exactly as you say, impossible. Our bite picked up
about 9AM and stopped at 1PM and that is when we went home. The weather was
building rain and I'm glad we did get off as it did rain in the afternoon there.

Seems the bite Chris has stopped all spring long between 1 and 2pm. Don't know if it picks back up around 5 or 6. noidea
