I am planning on putting on a catfish tournament for the highschool aged youth of my parish. While i have put together the rules, i have not come up with any good ideas as to what would make good 1st and 2nd place prizes for the winners of the tournament. It is purely a catfish tournament that is based on a cumulative total weight from the two weigh-ins for the 3 day tournament. Do yall have any ideas as to what would make a good prize? Thanks in advance!!!

Rod and reel combos are always great. I love nothing more in life than casting a new rig for the first time, except maybe catching that first fish with it.

A good terminal tackle setup with sinkers, hooks, etc. would also be useful.

gift cards to bass pro shop , cables gift cards, cash. get a few sponsors and have them donate some stuff

Paid guided fishing trips. Young anglers as well as old ones are always looking for advice and an edge.

+1 and maybe get a $10 a piece big fish pot going. Cool idea to get them fishing.

Be careful and don't get any kids in trouble in school with UIL.

My son fishes bass club at his highschool
Their prizes are reels , poles and polarized glasses mostly

Old school. Wind up alarm clocks. The ones with the bells and ringers.
On the side. Like Mickey-Mouse ears.
They will learn to set it, and wind it. When it goes off will
wake the dead.

how would it get them in trouble with UIL??? I ask this just so that i cover all bases....i also plan on consulting our local gamewarden to get his imput as well. thanks for all the ideas yall have given me....they are some great ideas!!!

kids in school. cant earn money in tournaments... it then ruins there amature status. these kids then try to get scholarships. later find out they are not elegile due to being paid to perform. that makes them professionals in whatever field.
