Coon-eye nation! Sorry I havent posted in a few weeks. I ran 36 trips in 26 days during the month of April, and I needed a breather. The fishing has been good on Cedar Creek, all you have to do is pick your poison. If you like bridge fishing, the columns are holding fish from 3-12ft. Pitching the jig past the columns has been working well. If you like brush piles, I recommend fishing anything with more than 12ft of water, and look for suspended crappie over deeper piles. The fish are just starting to get on brush, and they are barely touching the jig. If you like a challenge, shoot a limit of crappie under docks. Look for fish under docks with good water, and dont stay long in an area if you dont start getting bit quickly. When using this technique, look for the darkest water under the dock.

Tackle: For bridges and brush piles, Im using Shaddaboy Thump Chubbies and White Hot Thump Buddies on 1/8 ounce unpainted #4 bronze sickle hook jigheads. For dock shooting, Im using High Noon Thump Buddies on 1/16 ounce #4 bronze sickle hook jigheads. Jigs and jigheads provided by www.constantpursuitoutfitters.com.

Rod and Reel: 6ft Ultra Lite Ugly Stiks with Shimano Sienna reels. 6lb Hi-Vis Wally Marshall mono.

The best piece of advice I can give for this time of year is dont be patient. Move quickly and confidently, being sure not to spend more than five minutes at a spot if no bites are detected.

Here are some pictures of the last few days.

Looks like you been slacking on the yellow bellies, what's up with that? Also, just how big are the catfish that have been feeding on those crappie carcasses by your cleaning station? They got to be full by now.

Dang! You know how to catch them.

What is your schedule looking like over the next 2 weeks? Me and a couple other buddies here in Hatchie would like to book a trip with you.

Thank you fishermen and fisherwomen! I haven't gotten to dock shoot in most of my career as a guide, due to low water levels. I'm making up for it this year though, and I couldn't be having more fun! I don't prefer to guide dock shooting trips, but customers who like a challenge and want to learn something new are in for a real treat.

Sully79, I'm not sure of my exact schedule, but if you want to give the office a call at 903-288-5798, Stephanie will gladly get you set up. You can also see openings at www.bigcrappie.com. The crappie should bite well until late June/early July, then again in October and November.

Looks great Lane! Very nice report for those wanting to hit your lake and don't have a good handle on things. These are the types of reports that really help.

Nice report, Lane. I haven't been out lately at all. Hopefully, I can correct that soon.
