Just checking in with you guys to get your opinion on this years spawn. Has it happened yet? All of the new water in the lakes I frequent (Lavon, Lewisville, Ray Roberts) has my freezer empty. Of course, I'm a bank/tube angler and stumped on places to go with the lakes being so high. Thanks and God bless. Don't forget to pray for our great nation today flag

i think it is over! the high water in Grapevine just ran them to deep water i bet..think they will just absorb there eggs this year.

I am also a bank angler, and the spots that produced numbers of nice sized crappie last Spring did not produce anything for me this Spring. I am of the opinion that what little there was of the spawn here on Lake Grapevine, is now gone.

In the midst of all this rain, fishing the spawn from the banks this year has been awful.

On Pines from April 3rd thru 15th we found them on the bed, pines was about 3.5 ft. high, now we are getting them in 12 to 17 feet about 4 to 5 feet up from the bottom.

Caddo has fish hard with all the new water coming in every week.

I fish Lewisville quite frequently out of a boat. I have had 6-8 spots that have always had crappie on them, that is until this year. I fish hard between Mid March to Mid April with 3 dinks to show for it. I hope the females just spawned in deeper water this year, so we don't miss this years fish in the future. Every time the fish were about to move up, that lake would flood. This is by far the worst Spring I've ever gone through. bang

I had a lot of good action from first week of March until April 7th in the spawning grounds I fish around Midlothian. Everything after April 7th has been from docks in 10FOW or brush in 15FOW. I did catch a big white crappie last weekend in 10FOW shooting docks that was full of eggs.

Here is my two cents 2cents I primarily fish Lewisville and I believe that ............... who am I kidding, I don't know [censored] about crappie fishing on Lewisville!!!!!!! It has been tough but the under sized hybrids pull harder than those damn crappie anyhow!!!

I tried em on Friday, Saturday & Sunday but couldn't catch a crappie. Caught every other species of fish in the lake though.

Even though the fishing is tough, I believe the fish will have a good spawn and good survival rate with all the flooded trees and grass. (Not sure why I believe this, I guess I think they are still doing what they do while evading us in the process)

The spawn was scattered, scattered, scattered. We caught fish on 20' brush piles in Waco three weeks ago and caught a handful in 1' of water on Navarro Mills last week. I'm on pause until July. I know where they will be then.

Caught fish last week on Cedar Creek in 18" on jig/bobber. They are still that shallow on Fork and Cedar Creek, so probably that way on other lakes, but you just have to find that area where they are, and that's always the toughest part. The rapid rise of water this spring did seem to change things up.
