I have 2 pretty nice rods that have the top broken off , and have never tried to repair them. My question is I am fishing in a tournament next Sunday and want to no if they will hold with a repair kit. I would hate to loose a big bass because the tip comes off. And if so , what kind off a tip repair kit would work the best.

If it's just the very tip, they sell rod tip repair kits that have several sized rod tips and a hot glue that you heat up, put some on the broken tip and stick the tip on (make sure it lines up with the next guide). Use pliers to hold the tip as the glue it HOT. Wipe off excess glue. Once it sets it's just like new. If you broke off several inches of the rod it will effect the action and this might not work so well.

Have used the fuji Rod tip repair kit that can be found at Academy or any tackle shop. Have had zero problems with the rod. Also everything the guy above mentioned follow.

Thank that is what I was going to do , just didn't no how strong it would be. I have done it to a crappie rod and worked well, but a big old fat cow?? And they are both at the end of the rod.

I broke a rod tip a few weeks back. I only broke about 1.5 inches off so I heated up the broken part, pulled off the original rod tip, got some glue, heated up the tip and glued it on to the rod.

Also take razor blade and cut a sliver of glue off, like about a half inch and about the size of a toothpick and stick that into the new rod tip and heat that up with a lighter to melt the glue then align and put it on. Then do the outside.

I've repaired my tips with the same kit, but instead of the
hot glue, I use "Super Glue".

Never had problem...

What about if you brake it off about 6" down? Is that fixable?

6" down. Must be very close to the next eye. I tried that on a crankbait rod I broke and it effected the action of the rod too much so I stopped using it. A lot depends on the action of the rod and what you intend to use it for.
