Good afternoon,

My name is Andrew Hopkinson, and I am a student at Lovejoy High School. I a 17 years old and love to fish, especially out of my kayak. In order to graduate from my school, students are required to conduct a senior project. For my senior project I was interested in hosting a kayak fishing tournament during the summer. I was looking for some input on this idea. I am wondering if anyone would be interested/wanting to participate in this event, if I could get some tips on how to accomplish this, and if this is a good idea.

Please let me know your thoughts!

Andrew Hopkinson

Hey Andrew I would love to help you out with this. I am on the Jackson Kayak Factory Fishing Team and host and run many kayak fishing events. I also have access to rental kayaks for those that do not have them.

P.S. I work at Lovejoy HS send me a email Jpalovik@tx.rr.com

That sounds like a great senior project! Mine last year was learning to tie flies and cast a fly rod. Lots of fun!

I'm in your area and would attend. Have something near the mckinney area (bonham, Crockett, coffee mill, etc) and I can guarantee a few guys will come. Good luck.

If I'm not working I would be interested. I still haven't tried the whole kayak fishing tournament thing yet. I have attended some bank tournaments and they were fun. I live really close to Allen I'm just east of Lucas in Branch. Anxious for more details when you have them. I know of a few other buddies who might could attend even if I can't.

I'm in! not sure if you have ever fished a tounnament or not but if you want you can come to the working mans tournaments on lake grapevine and kinda get an idea of how a very laid back tournament is ran. It's free every Thursday this Thursday I've are meeting at mural park. Also if you need anything to help you out just let me know if I don't have it I will do my best to get it for you. Good luck! I'm in Allen and wouldn't mind joining if I can make it. If you need some help let me know. I host the Bank Bassin events so I'll give you any options or help that I can.

My first time in a kayak will be this weekend, but I'll borrow it again and join you. Otherwise, I don't have too much to add on kayaks, but I have plenty of bass tournament experience through the years if you need any general advice or thoughts.

Plus I'm a Lojo dad and been through the Senior Project once with one more to go.
