Weather: high 60's in the AM, warming to mid 80's by mid-day, partly cloudy skies

Water temp: 74 in the AM to 78 mid-day

Fished depths from 3-4 feet to 20 feet

I searched around a lot due to never being on the lake before but pulled some fish each day.

I fished mid-lake around the bull rush, swimming fluke in Mardi Gras got me the most bites, weighted Owner hook.

I fished deep docks which is where I had bigger bites. T-rig fluke and jig were the ticket there.

Man they hammered the jig, big fish was a long 4.4 pounder, but I missed some bites on the jig that the fish I know were much larger, had a good hookset on a new jig, not sure why but two good fish came off, maybe need to trim the weed guard down. Also had some big followers on the swimmin fluke as well.

The weather was perfect and for my first time to LBJ I consider it a success catching fish. Got some info from some TFF'ers and I appreciate it.

That's good information. I logged on tonight just to see if there where any reports for LBJ.
I will be going there for my first time later this month. Thanks.

Got any tips you would like to share? Not locations just maybe some bait suggestions or what to look for as what type of areas to try.
Thanks

I go into the areas off the main lake, find the docks that are side by side by side. Throw your favorite topwater all the way to the back, let it set for bit, give it one or two small pops and hang on. I've had good luck pulling 4 and 5lb'ers out from the docks.

How's the fising in general on LBJ? Is it considered a good or a tough fishery?

How come I keep catching small fish when every product I buy is supposed to catch more and bigger fish?

Bass fishing has improved quite a bit in the past 3-4 years as the grass has proliferated in the lower part of the lake since they have not lowered the level for homeowner repairs in many years due to the drought. Fishing pressure has increased though as LBJ is kept constant level for power generation and the other lakes are very low.
