Our girls went to first Monday in Canton this weekend, so Lance, Rodney and I went to O.H. Ivie to do a little fishing. I love fishing this lake because you can usually count on catching a few white bass for my son and you never know when that giant will bite. While it wasn't a true giant for this lake's standards, my buddy Rodney was able to hook onto a 9.25 lber. Was really a beautiful fish. Lance caught several white bass on top water, solid 1 - 2 lb fish and I managed a decent 4 lb largemouth and a few in the 2-3 lb range. Was a nice relaxing weekend. Not huge numbers of largemouth, but enough to have a good time.
Had to be the biggest average size whites I've been on in along time. I don't think we caught a single white under 10". Everything was 12"+ and we only kept about half of what we caught. Just spend a little time chasing them to get my son a few fish and then we would chase largemouths.
Had a great time at the lake, except for the one time the man in the Blue Nitro decided to make a full circle around us at half speed to get to the little cove about 75 yards away from us while we were working the point on our way to that cove. I swear the waves hit us from all three sides at the same time and liked to threw my son into the lake.
Other than that lots of friendly people on the water this weekend.
My lil' 4 lber:
Lance's First White bass of the trip:
One of Lance's topwater whites:
One of our doubles:
Almost full livewell. Didn't keep everything. Tried to bring home about 25 of the nicer ones. Ended up with 23.
Rodney's 9.25 lb lunker
Put her in the livewell to keep her fresh while we got the scale and tape ready. We were thinking she would break the 10 lb mark, not that I really know what a 10 lber looks like......................
25" length, 16.5" girth
Caught her on a pink lure.
Watching her swim away.
Got 5 lbs of filets from these 23 whites.
