Ready for the spawn to be over! I have said for years how the spawn is overrated! Cant wait until the middle of May for the crappie to move onto brush and get so easy to catch. With rising and 70 degree water for 2 months the fishing has been so sporatic at best! Was killing the crappie last year at this time!

I'm with you! Years past we were always away on vacation during the spawn. This year - due to all the hype about how great the spawn bit was, we changed our vacation plans - and stayed home for the spawn! What a let down!! Never again!!

Yes the spawn season can be very frustrating "here today, gone tomorrow" fishing. It's great when you are on them, and frustrating when you are not.

Well, ALMOST everybody knows the "real crappie season" is first frost to first of March, then its time to chase sandies hybrids and blacks. I haven't fished the spring spawn for crappie in 20 yrs or more, apparently not missing much.

Im with ya Duck Jerky.....Its great when you hit it just right but i like the deeper water/ more reliable bite where i can normally catch a limit on a brush pile in an hour and not have to mess with all the creek fishermen.

Fish around here are back on brush and biting pretty good. The males still have a little color to them as they are just getting off their nests.

I'm always in a good mood when I'm fishing.
