I bought a Bucco rod at Bass Pro. Loved the way that it felt in the store. Got home and figured out that one of the guides was sealed up with some kind to clear coating so I cleaned it out, not a big deal but it is a QC issue. Went fishing and broke it between the 2nd and 3rd guides on the first hookset. I will return it but I'm seeking everyone's opinion on these rods. Are there issues with these rods? I didn't do my usual research before I bought it

I haven't had a single problem with mine or my low riders.

I am familiar with the issue with those blanks. Iva had two BuCoos with the tip guide that lost their inserts, a couple of Christies that just broke during hooksets. I never lost faith in them. Now I have 11 Falcon Cara ST's. Almost all are "Micros", and never an issue. Well, nothing serious. I can not keep the corks clean. They function perfectly. Don't know if it was just an issue with them trying to make 100's of thousands of rods to fill walmarts orders, or if they really were not made as well to save money, but the Lowrider and up series of rods are a "whole different world" of quality.

Rod was probably mishandled at bass pro or during shipping and already had a weak spot on it. I've got 1 buccoo and 1 Christie that has caught hundreds of fish. Buccoo is my frog rod and it has caught everything from small bass to 40" redfish on the coast. I've boat flipped bass up to 7lbs on it with no issues. I'd never hesitate to buy another one.

Thanks for the input so far. Years ago I had a lizard dragger and caught a ton of fish on it but I'm unfamiliar with the Falcon line of rods. So is the Bucco a lower end rod?

I have not had any issues with mine so far. I would classify the Bucoo as a mid range rod in the Falcon line.

Thanks for the input so far. Years ago I had a lizard dragger and caught a ton of fish on it but I'm unfamiliar with the Falcon line of rods. So is the Bucco a lower end rod? It's a middle-of-the-road line from Falcon. However, even the "low-end" rods from Falcon have been very dependable. I'd take it back to the store for a replacement and inspect the new one from tip to tip for any kind of imperfection. It's not uncommon for even quality rods in high traffic stores to be damaged somewhere along the way there.

When the buccoo first came out, the blank was the same as the lowrider series with different components. Don't know about now.

None are bullet proof!!, But between Low riders & Bucoo's , that's all I've used the last 3 years without any problems.

Thanks for the input. I thought I had looked at it closely before I bought it... Guess I should take my reading glasses with me next time.. Lol. I will return it and see how the next one does. I really like the feel of it and hope it works out.
