Fished a local creek the other day and found some hungry fat Longear at the end of some rapids. The first fish took a worm as it was flipped at the end of the rapid in shallow water. Great fight on the ultra light. The fish was very fat (probably eggs) and it's girth was a solid 7.50 inches. It's length was seven inches. The fish was weighed on a certified scale and it's weight was .49 lbs just under the minimum weight of .50 lbs for a water body record. The fish was released to complete her spawn. Caught a total of 12 very nice Longear but the first was the biggest. All fish were caught using worms with both a bottom and float technique. Fish were all in shallow water 2 to 3 feet deep. Saw lots of Rios and they were all sitting on nest. Chasing some good Longear on a local creek. It just don't get any better. fish

Those Longear are HOGS! I predict either you or Mike are going to nail down the first Longear Record on the Cibolo Creek! Good job catching some nice fish.

Side Note: If we get the rain the weatherman is predicting the Cibolo is really going to be running and a mess! Great seeing the water bodies being nice and full!

Thanks "Gitter" for the reply. cheers If a Longear record is going to be made the biggest are usually caught between now and Mid May. hmmm We shall see. eeks

Side Note: Fished the Cibolo yesterday (Monday) and the bite was slow. yawn Did manage a couple of nice Longear and a few small Bluegill. The water has cleared up. May try to fish it again towards the end of the week. thumb

Bet the Cibolo and all of the other creeks are flooded and unfishable. Will probably take a few days to dry out.

Side Note: Bet either you or Mike{USMC-GY) nails it.

Those are some nice Longear Chuck. Good job.

Side Note: Do you think last weeks rain will effect their bite and spawn?
