jackplate question? pros/cons

Have a 09 17' triton w/90 optimax. Will putting on a jackplate 6" benefit the boat/engine or not. Any advice pros/cons , thanks

Might help a tad; but you aren't going to see any major performance changes. Should give you a bit more trim if you need it. You don't exactly have a hotrod motor though.

I'm not a boat specialist and you're not getting much feedback on here, check out this site ( http://bbcboards.net ) There are guys there that can tell you the pros and if there's any cons. Now if you fish the bays then a hydraulic jackplate is an absolute positive, I'm just not sure if a manual plate will do a lot for you. Check out BBC.
