Im buying a new bay boat but dont know what motor i should go with! Ive looked at them with yamaha 150, 200, and evinrude etec 150 and 200. I really like the new Epic boats! Just dont know the difference in motors. fuel economy, noise, reliability ect.
What are yall experiences?

I have a Mercury Optimax 115 on my bay boat. Love it.

Have operated plenty of boats with Yamaha 4 strokes too. They're QUIET motors, and reliable.

Whatever motor you get, get the max hp for the boat. I would go with Merc or Yamaha, just personal experience.

Yamaha 200 fourstroke. Darn near bulletprof. That 4 stroke is probably the best motor yamaha builds for all around dependability

ive ran Yamaha, mercury, and now have an E-TEC 150. My pick would be the evinrude due to the efficiency, and durability and the quietness of the motor is unreal! Good luck!

I have both a Yamaha and a Mer, both are good motors, I guess if you beat it out of me I prefer the Mer over the Yamaha, and just because the Mer starts a little easier than the Yam, when its cold other than that its a toss up both are good motors

Truer words have not been spoken. Evinrude has terrible re-sale in Texas.... period.

Probably a reason for that

If you are on the coast look at what the people are running that are on the water everyday.
Be you will see Yamaha will rule.

If you are thinking about the 22SC then don't go below 200 hp. The Evinrude E-Tec 225 is a perfect fit for this boat. It will get it down the lake.
If it is the 25SC then don't go below 250 hp.
