 bottom job or lift?

So, thinking about putting my bass boat on the water at a Texoma marina. I can get a bottom job for about a grand, whereas a lift will be 3 grand plus. Someone tell me why the bottom job for a bass boat is a bad idea!
sure would like to save the money...
