Im buying a new bay boat but dont know what motor i should go with! Ive looked at them with yamaha 150, 200, and evinrude etec 150 and 200. I really like the new Epic boats! Just dont know the difference in motors. fuel economy, noise, reliability ect.
What are yall experiences?

I run a yamaha, but really don't care what anyone else has, but...here's how to tell what YOU want to choose.

Tell the sales guy to shut up, take a break and leave you alone.

Walk around back to the shop, find the #1 motor tech, and ask HIM which motor he'd buy. There's your UN-biased opinion.

Suzuki fourstroke if it's a option. Super reliable . Great fuel mileage .

I'm in the market also, ran an Evinrude for years, but! Its gonna be a Yamaha 4 Stroke EFI for me this time. It helps being able to spend time riding and fishing with both. Good Luck!

Zukes, Honda, Tohatsu, all good motors, right up until you need to find parts.

I had a Yami 200 on my 23' mako for 24 yrs, It died..(go figure)...then I repowered with a 2010 Yami 200-- 2 stroke for both(because of the weight)-- I will never ever buy anything ELSE but a Yami...they are not cheap, but you have heard --"you get what you pay for"... Yami the best engine on the market-- period!!

Both are good motors. I have Yam but want a ETEC. As long as its not a Black motor that starts with M you will be fine. Just my .02

From what I hear the new Yamaha 200 is a good motor but more like a strong running 150 than a 200. Ya'll left out the New Mercury 150 that is the lightest most powerful four stroke 150 out there with full 3 liters of displacement.Mercury is also easier to maintain than Yamaha and Suzuki and has maintenance free valve train. I'm on my second pair of Mercury 150's with 0 downtime. Sold my first set with 900 hours and they still brought 7,000 each so resale is good because of the success of this engine.

I'm surprised Mercury doesn't rate higher. I've had a 90 Merc marine since 2001. I've had to replace the lower unit but still runs fine.

Is there something about Mercury I don't know?

If you want to go fast get a Merc. If you want to get back get a Yamaha.
