Drove up to Old Alton bridge after work today. Water conditions were high and stained. The bite was very slow. Managed to catch one hybrid around 3 lbs or so just south of the bridge. It was a nice surprise as I was expecting crappie or smaller white bass.

Wow, what a fabulous day to be outdoors though - mid-70's with a slight breeze in this area. Wish I could have spent the entire day at the lake.

Cheers,
JB

I believe old alton is on hickory creek. Isn't Denton creek on lake grapevine?

You are correct. Guess I have the subject line wrong. Ah well.

I was using a yellow curly-tail jig - I think 1/8 oz. The one hybrid is the only bite I had and I fished 2+ hours - so yeah it was very slow.

I fished there twice in April and got 100% skunked both times. I had better luck last May.
