I am going to take my little brother and dad to fork crappie fishing next week, I have never been crappie fishing so probably gonna just keep it simple and use minnows since my little brother doesnt have much experience with casting. I'm not looking for spots I'm just trying to figure out where to start. Thanks for any help

I'm fairly new also and I am probably the worst crappie fisherman in the world... but I went to Ray Hubbard today and they were biting under the bridges. I think it was about 25 ft deep and they were hanging close to the bridge pillars. You can use minnows, or jigs. If you jig - it's best to bring a slow presentation. I tried casting small jigs around the pillars, and they wouldn't take it. (I loaded the live well with sand bass though) Most of the crappie were caught by just "deadsticking" or holding the rod completely still. Minnows also caught a few, but not much. Hope that helps you some. Good luck, and report back to us. Let us know how it went.

Tim
