My grandfather taught me how to fish. I love him dearly and rarely get to see him, and haven't been able to fish with him in years.
He always fishes to catch something for the frying pan. I've seen him keep drum and carp to eat, he doesn't care.
He has been at Ivie all this week. Either yesterday or today he was fishing with a live perch (bream, sunfish) and caught this one.

Notice how close he is holding it to his body. He has to do that because he barely has the strength. And since it is so close to his body, you can really grasp how big it is.

Way to go Papa, thanks for teaching me the love of fishing! (again, I've rarely seen him throw anything back, so I'm sure he kept it to eat. And remember, he does come from the old school where you don't throw anything back!)

My grandad was the same way.
Cherish the time you have with him.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

Congratulations to your Grandfather. Now I want you to drop whatever it is that is keeping you from spending time with him and get it done. Just think about all the knowledge you are going to miss out on when he passes. Knowledge of not just fishing but everything else in his life time that he has experienced and can help you with. You probably could write a book. HA...

Sounds like my grandpa. He didn't know catch and release. He knew catch and eat. He passed 3 weeks ago. Learned a lot form that old man
