I have really been craving some yellowcat. I was just wondering if there is a decent amount of them in lake waxahachie. Also wondering if they would be in the creeks right now. I was looking to maybe drop some drop lines in the creek

According to the TP&W site, there is a recorded catch of a flathead, but I fish that lake often and I have never seen one myself. Maybe up around the dam. It's nice and rocky. The lake is so high right now that you can't get to the west end of it in anything taller than a bass boat because of the pipe that crosses the lake. I haven't been able to find a good place to get near the creek on the east side since they have strict no parking rules on the bridge and nowhere else to park up there unless you feel like making a long walk.

I've heard of several caught noodling the boat ramps there. If your wanting to fish by the creek right now use your john boat so you can go under the pipe, or launch at the 35 bridge and come back to the lake (if you can still launch at bridge). That other lake that we have discussed before has some of what your looking for as well, but I haven't specifically targeted them there either, just seen 'em.

I grew up spending summers on my grandparents farm near there, used to run jugs with a canoe or jon boat along the mouth of the creek on the west side using live perch and caught them pretty regularly this time of year. We also used to hit the creek on the north side of the lake at the first cove east of the pipe if it had water flowing in it would produce some fish too. Granted this was 30+ years ago now so the pattern may have changed...
