I am hooked on big swimbaits, I have been fishing 5.5 and 6" swimbaits with a weighted 6 or 7/0 hook but just picked up a line through swimbait (3:16 rising son) my question for those who have used them to fish shallow do they make a weedless treble hook to keep from getting hung up in the grass. Or do yall just rip it through the grass as you would a trap? Any advise appreciated

When there is a lot of grass I will switch to the mission fish and rig it weedless. If there is a lot of cover I will just use a hollow body swimbait and shove a jig head up into it. That way if I loose a few I don't feel like I broke the bank.

I use the Rising Son TH (top hook) model for going over thick grass. Prefer the regular model(bottom hook) though and you will be surprised what you can swim it through even with that big hook lying under it.

I am going to try it next time I go out, I was just wondering I don't want to lose or tear up a 17.00 plastic bait. Do you let the treble hang free? I have seen some people tuck one of the treble hooks in the belly of the bait

Buy some "Mend-It" and it will repair any tears, holes... One prong of the treble is embedded in the bait. YouTube "Rigging a 3:16 Rising Sun".

Get you a top hook rising son like 361 said. I have both and also the mission fish. The mission fish works well in heavy cover since it is a line through with a single LARGE hook.

The Mission Fish is the only truly weedless swim-bait that I know of. You can throw it into some heavy stuff.

Doesn't the rising son come in a top hook version. I know they have some baits on their site you can get either way. I wouldn't worry about tearing them up to much. They are very sturdy.

Yes, the Rising Son comes in both versions, top hook and bottom hook.

Check out the S3 stroker shad kit on www.santonelures.com. Great head with a big hook. Been catching a ton of fish on this set up this month.
