I have Abu revos from the s to stx. Today my handle on my revo s started going backwards sometimes when I would hook a fish. I guess my question is are there any reels with better, stronger internal parts that will withstand pulling big fish from heavy cover.

Honestly the revos have disappointed me. Curado 200e7 is the best reel in my opinion of you can find them. I recently purchased a couple lews super duty 8:1 to try. The old silver diawa zillions were also great reels.

Lews bb1 or bb1 pro. They cast a mile and are pretty tough.

Academy H2O Mettle. Inexpensive and has never had an anti-reverse problem with me. Even took them to Falcon and they survived the pitching and flipping and Hogging the fish out of the trees. Had an older Ambassadeur 4600 that busted the anti-reverse on that trip too.

All reels bout 100 and up r good. I choose the xps pro qualifiers. Only one out of 20 has ever broke.

Daiwa Zillion 9.1....super fast gearing that gets them out asap! Sold a few and the response has been great. I'm adding one myself for flipping and another for froggin' http://daiwa.com/reel/detail.aspx?id=737

All the above suggesting Daiwas are good choices. I have had some of my Lews reels give me issues. They just aren't built as strong. As much as I hate to admit it. Lews are a great feel for the money, but they aren't a "great reel". My TWS Zillions are strong. The Steez are REALLY strong, but lack in the drag department. I can lock down my Steez reels and still hear the braid "zzziiipppp" on a hook set. My Zillions? They have a LOT more drag power. When froggin with braid, I like the drag set as tight as possible. I want to pull the bass up and out of the nasty stuff as quick as possible. A reel with weak gears or a "finesse" drag ain't it. That rules out the Steez and Lews. I don't know about the Tatulas. I know they are almost identical to the Zillion. I'd guess they would be a great reel for froggin. Get a high speed reel. It will help to get the line ready for a hook up. Sometimes frogs get knocked around and causes lots of slack in the line. You gotta get the slack out fast, then set the hook.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I've never seen a revo give up the ghost like that. They are super sturdy... I HATE the feel of curados after the D series so I'm out on those. I have a tatuala-R in my opinion it feels CHEAP. I have had 2, I sent the first back because of clacking noise on cast like the deal isn't disengaging all of the way, new one started doing it after a month.
Of the ones posted I'd look into the Superduty, or a revo rocket if its me. that said I'll sell you a tatula CHEAP....
