We are headed to PK this am to try our hand at jet ski fishing on this lake. I heard most are using live shad. We are planning on jigging or trolling. Any advice besides get ready to loose lures in the trees at 40-50 foot? (Been there done that).

Better go up lake if you want stripers. I went to magic point yesterday and there were zero stripers ( did catch a 6" one). I bet we'll have a spawn up the brazos this year with all the rain. If so, better focus on sandies.

Sandies it was not one striper to be found. We did run over and watch the mud wrens at Hells Gate.

Amazing. I caught only two sandies this weekend. Even last night when I dropped the green light off the back of the boat at the cliffs marina and fished with minnows it was one striper after another. I will say this, a 16 inch striper is a load of fun on a 10 foot crappie pole. We caught stripers from 6 - 15 inches.

I saw you when you came in to Cedar Creek. My buddy was amazed you would fish from a jet ski. He didn't think it would be very comfortable. I told him you had tackle storage, rod holders and all the trimmings. He still doesn't think he wants to try it. We caught a lot of unders on stripers all day, a couple around 18" to 20" and a lot of sand bass. Most sand bass were above the state park in 35 fow. My trolling motor plug messed up so we had to anchor. THAT was not fun. Took about 1/2 hr. one time to get it out of a tree. I began to wonder if I was about to loose it that time. I almost had the bow under once or twice. Got a new plug yesterday, so I'm about ready to try again. We went down and saw the birds under the cliffs at the gate also, didn't see you there. Come on over and say hi next time. grin

Some of the guys "said" they were catching on topwaters. Didn't work for me. We used shad, after throwing the net for almost an hour. They were a lot harder to catch this weekend than last. All the rain must have them moving or something.

Yeah we landed lots of whites and small striper but the big girls were all playing hard to get. The jet ski is more comfortable than the boat in some ways. I didn't see you out there or I would have said hello. We are going to be there for four days during the cliff diving. I think I could win...the cannon ball contest. A few did hit top water but no big ones. The Grill was an expensive lunch but a good break since I lost my hat on our first run out.
