Was fishing the Century Tournament Sunday on Cypress Springs and a TPWD worker came by and asked us a few questions while we were fishing. Asked how many we caught and what sizes, in inches, they were. Asked how much we spent to go fishing that weekend and if we were in a tournament or not. After his questions we asked what the survey was for, he mentioned they were trying to figure out how much, if any, LMB to stock in the lake. Any one else get surveyed or have any information on it?

If he asked me I would have to throw in "Yeah, I remember how many more and better fish I used to catch in this lake before you guys and the locals killed all the grass."

Not that it would have done any good, because his boss The Grass Exterminator isn't going allow anything to grow no matter what...

haha funny you say that, cant remember what he asked us, but we said they should bring the hydrilla back to the lake, his response "Oh, the home owners wont let that happen". Since when do the homeowners own the lake?

cypress used to be my favorite lake to fish.....before the grass kill. since the grass kill the spots have taken over that lake. you can catch plenty of fish there, just not the large mouth population it used to be. the good note is, if you want to learn how to drop shot fish, cypress is your lake to learn.

I hate the spotted bass we have in Texas. They don't usually grow to a size worth catching and they eat everything.

I took the same survey last year at Ray Roberts. The hatchery doesn't have enough bass in it to stock Ray Roberts to make it a decent fishery...

I got stopped on Athens in November. I thought it was odd they were doing a survey there when that lake is catered to as much as Fork. I asked him about stocking lakes like Lavon etc and he didn't seem to have an answer for that. If you have one of them walk up to you make sure you pull the plug (so they can see it) and let them know you clean and dry your boat every time out.

You probably were talked to by Tim Bister. He is the TPWD Biologist for our area out there including Cypress, Sandlin and Monti. I have spoken to him several times over the last couple of years about the lake. He told me they were going to be doing some creel surveys soon. Cypress is FINALLY on the list to get some Florida LMB stockings this year. They have been waiting to add more LMB until there was adequate cover for the young bass to live and we definitely have that right now with all of the flood shore line grass out there today. The reality is they believe the hydrilla is good for the lake when CONTROLLED and the hope is that is what will happen out there again soon. Only time will tell but I am not going to complain about them adding the LMB, assuming we get them this year.
