I have braid on my A-rig and it seems that it likes to get caught on itself in the spool and when I cast it just stops and almost yanks out of my hand. I have power pro 65 on it. How do you stop that from happening?

Load the rod tip and lob your ARig letting it spool line off the reel while you thumb it. Sounds like you're trying to launch that rig with your arm and the entire rod. No bueno. I had that happen to me this weekend several times while trying to throw a frog on too heavy/stiff a rod. The frog wasn't heavy enough to load the rod tip so I had to 'throw' that frog instead of letting my rod and reel do the work. Your ARig is plenty heavy.

Braid is the only way to go.

Florocarbon sinks and it affects the action of the frog

Mono floats but there is too much stretch so it is almost impossible to get a good hookset on those long casts

65lb Power Pro Braid. I use Reel and Line Magic on my braid and it seems to make it cast better and keeps it from drying out and getting brittle. Also no need for an overly stiff rod so make sure you're using one that will load up properly and allow the rod to do the work. Good luck.

Any of you tried the new Seaguar Smackdown Tournament Braid? I used some 30# Saturday. Finest, roundest, smoothest and most limp braid I've ever used. In fact, don't think I'll be using the 30# again unless it's on a spinning reel. Can't wait to try out the 60# for pitching and Camelot Bell. If it's as strong as Suffix 832 I might have just found my self a better braid.
