This is not quitting; but just like changing gears. Fishing in our lakes is not worth all the money I spent in my younger years. If I had it to do over I would just stay home for 3 or 4 trips then take that money and go to Mexico where the fishing is great several times per year.

Now that I am older and have come to my senses; I am finally making it happen. I could have taken that 25K I spent each year and when SOUTH every chance I got.

I'd enough for a new truck, boat, new gear, tournament costs for the next year, 3 paid trips to fork with guide. Basically would never happen unless somebody hits the power ball.

I could never, any amount of money gets me thinking about what fishing stuff I can buy next, then my next trip out, and I'd want to go. Of course there are other things. Like hunting, but that's only fall/winter for me. I'd break faster than (insert whatever you can think of here) it just couldn't/wouldn't happen

Money comes and goes, but what fishing does for me cannot be replaced by anything else. Sometimes I wish there were things that I could substitute for fishing now and then, but there simply isn't. So no, I couldn't be paid not to fish, even if I wanted to.

Me too.

$10k - I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'd do it for $5k. I might even do it for $1k. $500 or less...probably not.

This all assumes that would still allow me to take my daughter to the pond down the street to catch some perch once every few weeks.

Yeah, I could give up fishing easily. Golf would be much tougher for me.

I love to fish, but my son plays baseball. I always feel guilty missing some of his games. At this point in my life I would take a year off....if paid.

No amount of money, if I miss a couple of weeks I get hard to live with. I have other interests but fishing is a necessity for my mental health.

I would definitely save at least 10K if I didnt fish for a year. If you add up the fuel, maintenance, tackle, lodging and food. But for me, it is more than fishing, it is therapy. It would have to be a lot more than 10K. An idle mind is the devil's playground.
