Hello, looking for recommendations on some quality rods between 8-10 ft. Preferably 8'6. Not looking for a surf rod because I will be making a lot of cast and using 1/2 - 1 oz jigs. Wanting to spend under 150. Targeting fiah up to 20lbs. Or if anybody have any used one. Please PM me thank you!

I use an 9 foot Ugly Stick. I used in PA for steelhead and in GA for catfish. I plan on using here in TX for both catfish and some inshore fishing (drum and redfish). Mine is a medium action and it works great for heavy or hard-fighting fish.

Ugly stick is very good for bank fishing +1. I also use pro angler rods but I think they are better for boat fishing and not from the bank. Nice thing about the ugly stick I have been able to kick some snakes away from me. Bet no one things of that LOL.

Come on tom tica ftw man or atleast a mojo.

Check out some steelhead rods from Cabelas or Bass Pro. It sounds like what your looking for.

Haha I love my TICA, it's just a little too stiff and heavy for jigging long periods of time. My next option is the St. Croix triumph. Mojo doesn't have the length I need. But leaning towards the TFO that Moonriver posted

Thanks for the tip re. using the rod to keep the snakes at bay! I do like my Ugly Stik GX2 for my bank fishing. Tough as nails, and the eyelets were redesigned to handle braid with no problems a few years back.

Thanks for the recommendation Moonriver. Went with the TFO Gary Loomis signature series. Can't wait to try it out! What reel do you have paired up with it? Do you have any experience throwing a 1oz jighead on it and how it holds up.
