Wife and I thought we'd give the south Bosque one last try to see if we could find some late spawners.
We get to the lake and see debris floating everywhere and the water is pretty stained.
We carefully head up to to river and the water starts to look like chocolate it's so muddy.
We go past 84 bridge and start jigging heading up river.
After about an hour, and only two fish caught, I say let's try lacy point.
On our way back under 84 my wife wants to try the bank one more time, so I cave in. Now the river is up and there's grass all along the waters edge, so I decide to try something a little different than just dropping the jig here and there.
I tossed my jig up to the edge of the grass, let sit a sec then lift and drop, lift and drop, just like if I were fishing a worm for bass.
On the third lift he hit. A huge male.
On my second toss, she hit the jig on the way down and all I saw was my line takeoff to the left.
My third toss, another huge male that hit it on the lift and all I felt was heaviness.
After that my wife had had enough and started the same technique.
I really have no idea how many we caught.
It was under twenty I'm sure, but we only got to fish for about an hour before the rain hit and we high tailed it off the lake.
But it seems bouncing the jig along the grass edge and out to about 4 FOW was the ticket yesterday for catching late spawning crappie in very muddy waters. the deeper the water, the higher the bounce.

Water temps in the river were 74.8 degrees
The females we kept all still had eggs in them and some were just starting to get mushy
1/8 oz. Jigs
Color combos were: blue/orange-yellow/white....white-red/blue/white
