You'll catch a lot of goo with crawdads. I've never caught a bass on one.

Plenty of people have caught bass using live crawdads, just not something you hear about all the time. I say good luck, and hopefully someone knows where you can get some

This time of year you can usually find them at all the Asian markets for a good price. I go to the one by Richland College.

I used to use live crawdads to catch trophy bass in southern California. They were dynamite for large bass. I used the biggest ones I could find, and caught almost exclusively large bass with them. Very successful with them in California, not so much here. I believe right now is crawdad season here. You can buy them at most supermarkets. They are cold storage and not great for bait. Kind of beat up. Better if you can trap or seine some out of a local ditch.

Fiesta had them for 1.79 lb and the Asian store in Plano off Legacy had them for $3.49 lb.

You can usually seine a bar ditch and get a lot of them.

I used to run trotlines at Grapevine when it flooded and used Crawdads, I caught a lot of catfish on them

You will catch more drum & catfish on them than bass. Olsen's in Lake Worth carries them.

I used to use them growing up in Southern California. They work great and you do catch some pigs. Make sure you use them around a harder bottom like some hard clay transitions or rock piles. Anchor up and stitch em!!

I used to buy them all the time at these Mexican meat markets.
They worked great and they are hard to kill.

I've seen bass run 30 ft. to clobber one.
Check the internet for the proper way to hook them and good luck!

For years I sent the smaller (over 50 count) crawfish to a bait distributor in Cali. The amount he paid me, the air cargo and the trouble to go and pick them up at the airport, I figured he must be gettin' $2 a throw for the things. He told me they used the larger of the batch for bass fishing and the tiny ones for trout.

They work great for bass and catfish. For all the bass fisherman on here that say they don't work for bass, they are just messing with you because of the "live bait" issue that they have.

Yep they are just messing because they definitely work. I also find it amusing that guys who have electronics that basically capture live video of underwater fish give people that use live bait a hard time ...gotta love the irony.

They will catch anything big enough to eat them. They are a delicacy to the fish. They don't have to chase them and they get a full tummy quick. And as nature would have it they are very nutritious for the fish. I've read they will eat a crawfish before any other natural food source. Back when I bass fished a lot I had more craw worms in my tackle than any other soft plastic. A simple texas rigged craw worm along the edge of the grass would do the trick. Then the scented baits came out, then sinko's etc.

Wish I could help you on where to get them. We always set traps the day we went cat fishing and had plenty. You could build a trap and catch your own. Then if you catch a PB bass you will have some serious bragging rights to share with us.
