I got out for a few hours this afternoon. I got to my first fishing spot around 2:15 and quit before 6:00, so it was less than four hours of fishing. It was a truly nice afternoon, partly cloudy and the winds stayed light. There were storms in the distance, but they stayed well north of me. Water temp was 73 degrees where I was. There were more play boats on the lake than I've seen in a long time. Cedar Creek is going to have a lot more boat traffic now that the lake is full, it seems.

Even with the short day, I ended up with 22 keepers, so it was a pretty good bite. There were no monster crappie in the bunch, but most were solid keepers. All were black crappie. They were caught 10 to 12 feet deep, in 17 to 20 feet of water, on brush and concrete. All were caught on my 3/32 oz jig with my plastic shad, in a dark gray shad color. Bobbie came along today, and she also caught some nice crappie. All fish were released today, and we picked up tacos on the way home for dinner. LOL.

Lately, I've noticed that even though the bigcrappie.com guys and I are fishing the same part of the lake at least part of the day, they haven't been fishing the pattern I'm fishing at all. It's a reminder that there are plenty of ways to catch lots of fish, so don't be afraid to go your own way and do your own thing. On the other hand, I've only been catching black crappie lately, and I notice their photos have some really nice white crappie in them, so maybe I should be following them around a bit more.

Today's photo is a bit nicer than usual.

And Bobbie took this photo of me as I was loading the boat. So here is what I look like on the water. Stop and say hi if you see me on Cedar Creek. Maybe I should reduce this photo and use it in my signature.

After last night's storms, all area creeks are rocking and rolling again. Cedar Creek is now almost 5 inches above normal, and releasing lots of water. When we finally get rain, we get rain.

Thanks for the report Bud. I live near the back of Lynn creek, Do you think it's too late for the fish to be there. I have a small boat that I can put in, but I can't go so far. Would I be better off fishing the bridges? Any help would be appreciated.

I would think there would still be fish in the back of Lynn Creek. That said, I haven't caught many shallow fish on Cedar Creek this year. Brush piles further out in the cove might be better, or docks. With the lake this high, shooting docks is tough, but just fishing the deeper edges of docks can produce fish.
