I use high Fi Yellow line, does tieing the jig straight to this line make a different, or should I be using a flora carbon leader???

No leader needed. Just tie the hi vis directly to the jig....Unless you're fishing crystal clear water.

The Big Ones don't get Big by being stupid. I always use a leader. Suffix Siege Smoke Green 8 lb. When I finally put my jig in front of my 3 pounder, I don't want him to turn up his nose because he is line shy.
