I'm looking to get a new fairly high-end reel. The Chronarch Ci4 has impressed me a lot by the reviews and holding on in my hand at Anglers Pro Tackle, but want to make sure it's worth that extra few dollars, rather than go with the original Chronarch. Wanted some personal opinions of people who have used both reels. Love my Curado E7 and Chronarch E7, which seem to be the same basically, wanted to know how much better the Ci4 is

I have both and honestly can't tell any significant difference between them. Both are great reels.

I have used both and have started changing over to all CI4's. You can't wrong either way but I feel the CI4 is more comfortable in my hand. That's really the only advantage to me. I also change the stock handles with wider ones. The stock handles feel too close together for my comfort and I like the increased ratio.

I dumped all my E series and have a lineup consisting of mostly Curado I's and CI4+'s. Those two series perform very similarly, but I definitely prefer the CI4+. The Chornarch CI4+ is lighter and feels more refined. Casting distance is about the same as the CU-I for me, maybe a little bit better.

Don't know about the new CI4+ but if it has the same issues as the new Curado I would look elsewhere. My partner and I have 4 of the new Curado's and the "sing" like no tomorrow. Oiling them helps sometimes but it doesn't last long. I sold the two I had and went back to the old Chornarch's. I have six of them and until proven otherwise won't be switching anytime soon.

I have switched to all the Ci4s and I love them. I have 7 now and wouldn't trade them for anything. Light, cast well, and easy to setup.

I still like the E series over the G or the new Ci4

I have a CI4 and am a big fan as well. I have some of the older chronarchs and IMO they don't hold a candle to it.

Not real impressed with new Curado I. It makes alot of noise when casting, open it up and spray a little reel magic on it. But soon the noise will return. I got one and won't be getting another, in fact next time I'm fishing with one of my less fortunate fishing buddies I will more than likely give it away. Shimano tried to make the reel cheaper by having it made in Malaysia, and that they did. It is cheap stuff.

One drop of oil on the brake drum every few weeks and the reel performs really well.

The Curado and the C14 you need to oil on a regular basis and If you do that the "zing" will go away. The chronarch 50E does not require as much maint.
