Okay a buddy invited me to Joe Pool yesterday and he had what he thought was a Spro Frog tied up and on the deck! Asked him if I could pick it up as I have never thrown a hard frog! I've seen lots of videos and articles on them just always stuck w Ribbits and soft frogs! Anyway about 4 cast in with it the most violent blow up I've ever seen... Waited the second the stuck em! Around a 5lber and the frog was absolutely choked! My heart beating a trillion mph and shaking from absolute adrenaline! I'm Hooked so looking for everyone's opinion between the Spro and Strike Kings new frogs! Hook quality and walking capabilities are the most important to me! But with the vine coming up and some trips to some lakes with grass it's time to get with the program! Thanks for the input!

There are many good frogs: Spro, Strike King, Pad Crashers, Snag Proof, Deps. Get what you think looks good and will have confidence throwing... That said, whatever you end up getting do two things:
1. Trim the legs
2. Open the hooks just a little bit (up and out).
Also, know you are going to miss some fish. It comes with the territory, but it is a fun way to fish.

I have, and use both brands. The SPros are probably better built, but I seem to have the most success with the SK KVD frog. The really dark green one with the silver colored bottom. I have to cut the leg strands down by an inch or so. They "walk" better with the slightly shorter legs. One thing on the SK. The paint will start to wear off after 15-20 good fish. Faster if you are dragging it across lots of rough matted grasses.
Haha. First time I caught a fish on a frog, it scared the [censored] out of me. Lol. I was draggin across some seriously matted moss/grass. And BOOM!!! Like Jaws, the bass exploded out of the thick stuff and knocked my frog about 4-5 ft to the side. I was like WTF? Then. A few seconds later it swam over and sucked it down. I set the hook. And then it was on that day. Caught 6-7 good sized (between 3-8lbs) along a 60 foot stretch of the matted stuff in a hour or so. One of my most memorable days fishing.
But that first one.....haha. Holy hell. I wasn't ready for the explosion.
Eat. Sleep. Fish.

I use Spro frogs, and never had any issues with them. Absolutely my favorite technique ...

I can't stand paying good money for a frog I have to squeeze every few cast to get the water out.
So.... Snag Proof works for me.

I like the Lunkerhunt frog. Most realistic looking frog I know of, doesn't really walk but the legs are killer. I super glue the [censored] out of the legs where they attach to the body, otherwise they will come out on the first fish or skipping under trees. I also like the Spro shad, they walk really well and I have caught a ton of fish on them. Lastly, I like the Koppers live target frog. Pretty realistic and the body is nice and soft. For a toad/soft frog I like the LFT frog.

Spro and boo-ya, Kvd isn't terrible but it's not great either. I don't like the h20 express at all and that lunkerhunt was the worst $9.00 I've ever spent. I ripped the legs off and I'm going to put skirts inside. If you looked in my frog box you can tell which caught more fish and got more use. The h20,and lunkerhunt all look new.

Booyah Pad Crasher and Pad Crasher Jr. are reasonably priced, durable, don't sink, and catch bass. Shorten the legs to about the same length as the body, bend the hooks up and out some, and work them a few feet and pause. Good colors are bullfrog, cricket frog, and leopard frog.
In memory of my childhood friend Dan Sterling, who taught me at an early age how to catch bream with a hand-line, and who unknowingly hooked me on fishing for life.

Snag-Proof and Spro. Braid. If they won't hit the frog, throw a buzz bait.
