Any tips on finding shad to catch with cast net right now at grapevine? Any general area or marina holding any? I am planning on taking my boys maybe soon and sure hope I can catch some bait. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, might have to try throwing net by a few on the outskirts.

I was out there a couple of weeks ago and the areator was off, but if and when they turn it back on, that is where you want to go. One cast will get you all you want.

Yes just look for the black pipe running down to the lake, went out today but never made it to the dam.
Lake sure is looking good but watch out for floaters, there is a lot of trash coming in right now.

I can't believe it's only 3 1/2 feet low! Never thought it would get that high again. It's risen 10 feet since January! Summer BP's are going to be ON!!!

I can't believe it either, I'd pretty much given up on the ol summer spots at grapevine. Be nice if they'd open the gate at meadowmere ramp, there's plenty of water there now.

Low water ramp at Meadowmere is pretty good. It's just a long ways to walk from parking. Seems like it's up hill both ways. Good reason to take my young 25 year old nephew as my driver. roflmao Trash and floaters in the lake is what worries me.

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I was out yesterday. Lots of floating debris. Not so bad on the east (dam) side. You can see it there. As you head west past Twin Coves the water turned to the color of peanut butter. Makes it hard to see the floaters. A guy was wake surfing on some nasty looking water.

Maybe it'll finish filling up tonight then calm down smile

Caught one while they were spawning at the dam.
