Had a bad day at work, so decided to stop by Lake Grapevine on my way home for some 'fishing therapy'. Got out there around 5:00pm, and was tossing a 1/8" red roadrunner mirabou jig, tipped with a crappie nibble along the bank. Was using my Pflueger President 6925 ultralight spinning reel on my 6'.6" Pro Angler crappie rod. Just glad I had 10 lb. flurocarbon spooled!

I'm sure you can imagine how much fun it was to land this 12 lb. catfish on ultralight gear. banana

And my Pro Angler rod held up like a champ, even when bent in half!

I had no interest in cleaning this fish, so I gave it to a guy fishing a little ways away. He couldn't believe I landed it on a crappie jig. I got an hour of fishing in before the heavens opened up and I had to leave. GV lake level is looking great, and this flash flooding tonight should bring the lake up another couple of feet at least. Needless to say, this was certainly enough 'fishing therapy' to go home in a great mood. grin

You know you're a good angler when you can do something like that. Good job!

Nice job, I have been catching a lot of them on jigs, but nothing that size.

Nice going. Big fish on light tackle are a blast.

Sometimes you have to stop down and realize things like this happen when you need them to happen because its a gift from above.

If it ain't yours don't mess with it!

It sure felt that way. Wasn't the type of fish I was targeting, but it definitely was a blast, and it turned my mood around 180 degrees so I could be in a good mood around the family tonight.

Thanks! I have to give a lot of credit to the drag setting on the reel though. That cat was pulling line out with ease. Had to wait until she turned around so I could feel in some before she turned and pulled out more line. Was a great battle. She was close to breaking the line 2-3 times.

I'll definitely be writing them a 'thank you' letter or email with a pic. attached. That rod is solid for sure.

Nice flathead eater right there. The guy you gave it to is gonna really enjoy them filets.

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
