Was wondering if anyone has headed out to lavon dam with all this rain. Is it open? I've had a lot of luck there before when the dam is running. Anyone with info, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks guys.

That was years ago when they stock lavon with stripers and the lake was looking good. Lake still look a little bit low for them to open the gate imo

Funny you mention Lavon dam I was there this morning just to have peek. The lake is 1 ft low give or take a inches as of todays rain. I think by the end of next week it might be above full elevation. Not releasing any water yet. I did see what looked like carp or gar coming up to the surface. One guy was out fishing but no bites. I drove all the way around the lake to see what parks were open. Lavonia is open $4 entry but the free ramp is closed to access. Mallard is open and lookks great. Avalon is still closed. Just FYI.

Towards the north end of lavon. Im more than positive after these heavy rains today the dam will be open in the morning. Best striper in the dfw. Keeping my fingers crossed.

They're not gonna be opening it anytime soon. I can only see it when Lavon is over pool.

As low as its been and for so long, I would imagine they'll sit on it being over pool for a good bit before they letting any out. I do know that theres some good gravel beds out in front of and around the damn in the main lake that are great for flatheads maybe in a month or so?

I think because lavon is a flood control reservoir, the corp must draw it down to right at pool regardless of the fact that we need the water. I could be wrong but I'm almost certain it happened a few years ago.
