250 pro xs powerheads 2013 mercury 250 proxs sn:1B964503 computer and hr. meter shows 70hrs
i just purchased the boat and motor in February. This is the second time I've had it in to the dealer. First time they said it was the tracker valve fixed it then the next time out it broke down again. I took it back in and now they are saying that the powerhead is blown. The mercury tech also goes on to tell me that this motor has had multiple powerheads replaced. Each time the powerhead has been replace is due to a different cylinder going down. when I purchased the boat I asked seller if any work had ever had to be done on it and he said no. He purchased the boat from a dealer with less then 10 hrs on it. The replacement powerheads have been bare powerhead to a fully dressed powerhead. So now I have a new powerhead oreded and on the way. My question is what could be the cause of this to repeatedly happen and what can I due to prevent it happening again. Thank you

Seems like that's something your mechanic should be telling you and fixing for you. That engine should still be under warranty. I'd be yelling and screaming for a new one. A motor thats two years old with blown power heads is unacceptable.

most manufacturers are way more than fair on powerhead replacement under warranty a lot of failures are due to bad fuel an folks backing the boats off trailers an hammering the throttle before the motor has time to get to operating temp.

This is interesting. The last warranty powerhead was done at 126 hrs and you say it shows 70. They must have replaced the ECU.

That's what I wondering if the last powerhead was the fully dressed powerhead replacement.

I've excepted the fact that i got screwed on this deal. I bought this boat out of Lufkin tx from Jason Bonds and he will not expect my phone calls or call me back. But I would like to know the true story behind this boat. According to him there never was any work ever done to this boat and he bought it with only 8hrs. on the motor. I Guess this is what you get when you trust someone's word these days.
