I know boat motors are a lot better than they where when I was paddling in back in the 1970's, but what is the best brand out there these days, and is there any difference in the cost of brands when buying? There are certainly a lot more brands than there once were in 1975! And I have been away from them that long now. I am pretty sure it'll be 4 stroke and the HP is matched to the size of the boat. Any answers are greatly appreciated.

The best bang for your buck would be the Tohatsu outboards. Tohatsu and Mercury our in partnership letting Tohatsu build their small outboards. Basically exact motors just different color and graphics. 5 year std. warranty.
