I have fished several different lakes and during different times of the year. I have fished holiday weekends and during the week. But fork is the only lake I have been to where people just troll right up on top of you and fish right next to you. I don't mean run up on you with the big motor. I am talking about when you can't see another boat on the lake during the week and someone trolls along the shore toward you and fishes right up to you within about 15 yards. I am not complaining because I wasn't disturbed but, I just found it odd that at other lakes I have never had anyone get that close.

Lot's of reasons for that. A lot people just lose their mind when they are at Fork, and you have a lot of guys that fish 4 times a year only during the spawn or are brand new and just don't know. But you have the right attitude, don't let it bother you or ruin your day.

I was fishing fork in a tournament one time. catching fish on a trap out in the middle of the lake. a boat had been fishing about 200 yards from me for quite some time. evidently they saw that I was catching fish and they proceeded to fire up their big engine and idle over to me.....and when I say idle over to me, I mean I could reach out and touch their boat with my rod (yes, 7 feet away). the driver of the boat proceeded to punch a button on his graph ( way point), put the boat in reverse to keep from hitting my boat, then turned and drove away. people just get ate up with the dumb _ _ _ when fishing fork.

wow, like I said I was just shocked being I could not see another boat anywhere. They were quiet and all, but it was just weird they didn't speak just acted like we weren't there. My wife said I should have done my carl childers impression just to see what they did. lol

you'll also notice the tag on the boat...Look at the State tag and that'll tell a lot. A lot of snowbirds this time of year and just like Frank and Bossman said.. No boat/fisherman etiquette "I own a boat and there for I am a fisherman"
You can't catch a fish on a dry hook. SKEETER for LIFE!

something I have noticed....
People who go to fork basically know its going to be crowded and crazy... so people go in knowing it is going to happen, so they are TYPICALLY much nicer about the whole deal. So everybody goes in knowing its gona be a mad house and mentally get prepped for it. It is laughable at times imo... what can you do. i get less mad about it at fork than any other lake because i KNEW what i was getting into.
Idk why its that way, i guess just too many people... Keep saying i'm gona take 3 days off and go tuesday wed, thursday

Proximity to the metromess. Lots of rude people in the metromess and they bring that "me first" attitude with them to the lake on the weekends. Put 3,000 boats on 27,000 acres and you have 9 acres each. Given that not all 27,000 acres holds fish, crowding can be ridiculous this time of year.

People want to catch fish. Honestly, a lot of "fishermen" do not have the ability to locate their own fish. Not sure why, it's not that hard most of the time. So due to their desperate need to catch a fish and the fact most people do not have any scruples anymore, they will come in on you quick. It's life these days, just figure out counter measures that are entertaining and will leave them scratching their heads.

People need to be held accountable....on the spot... Tell them... If they act aggressively report them to LE...if the boat is wrapped call the sponsor..... Bet old Gerald had a bad day this week for being a douche!
