The motor is a cruise and carry 1.5. Without the prop engaged it will rev to the moon. Engaged it will only go about half throttle with me in the boat. I've cleaned the fuel bowl and jet out. The spark plug is clean as well. I'm thinking enlarging the jet might be the way to go. Anyone have any experience with small motors? It's basically a weed eater motor if that helps. It has good power and gets me going where i ever in the bass raider faster then the minikota 30 but I'm I'm just trying to get the most out of it. Thanks!

When you are on the water, you are trying to move weight with water resistance. There is no weight being moved when the prop is not turning.
You got what you got with that motor. If you want more, get a bigger motor.

Yea i kinda figured so just didn't see the point as i now keep up with a new 2.5 mercury. I figured maybe it'd be possible to get it to push a little more. I'll see what spraying a little gas in the carb does while at wot. If it improves i may find another jet to tinker with. Any other ideas beside turbo lol

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Ah, you don't need a plate, just a full bottle. Notice that it didn't blow up til he quit spraying it.

It probably doesn't need more fuel .. but actually less. Does it ever clean out, kinda like a weed eater motor when it's cold will sound like it's struggling, but then seems to clear out and rev higher. If that's the case, then you need to lean it out.
Leaning it out may help you a little bit either way. Just don't get to lean or it'll get a little warm.

Well the motor does not struggle at low rpm only at higher rpm like it could use more something. I took it out by myself yesterday and it did a little better with less weight.maybe I'll try 87 octane instead of 89. Or maybe it needs 93 octane. Idk.
