I have a dual axle utility trailer that needs inspection. While getting my SUV inspected last week I asked if they could/would do my trailer inspection and they said no they don't do them. If the state is going to require these they should at least make them available at a half way convenient location. For this first go around could we make a topic that sticks at the top of the locations people have used to get these inspections in the DFW area? Thanks

You can search this website by zip code, county, or city. Look for someone convenient for you that has a TL endorsement.

First one that came up for my zip code is the one that said no we don't do them... hammer I'll give them another call and let them know they are on the list.

It does not matter if it is dual or single axle, It depends on Weight

I think 4500 Total Gross Weight or carrying Capacity

Mine is Tandem and was under the weight limit and I got my tags a few weeks ago

I know of a place in Plano that will do them. Doubt you want to go that far.

I had to have my boat trailer done. I had it done at UHAUL in Arlington. It is on Cooper St just south of Sublett. You should only need inspection if your gross wt is over 4500lbs. It will say on your registration document. 4500 and below needs no inspection.

Chet, so you couldn't get the registration changed? What EXACTLY does your registration claim your GVWR is? I can't imagine even on a dual that you are over 4500 based on your previous posts!

Any place that does inspections can inspect your trailer. I'm a state inspector and it's just a safety inspection. They just need to make sure all lights work and tires have tread. But if it's under 4400 or 4500lbs GVW then no inspection is required.

Registration on boat trailer has 4500 carry weight and 955 trailer for total of 5455. Should be 4500 total.

This is a dual axle utility that needs one. My Ranger Trail is under (4500) but wrong on the registration(4500 should be 3545 + 955), I have a letter from Ranger with the correct info that I'm taking with me to the tax office. Hopefully They will change it with this letter and I won't need one for the boat trailer.
