I have a small crack on my lower unit casing. It's leaking fluid. It's on a 1993 Evinrude 150. Will JB weld do the trick?

I would have it professionally repaired, it might stop the leak momentarily, but i would think the crack would keep on spreading.

Most likely froze. Replace it.

I hit a tree getting on plane. Two days later I noticed the crack. It's very small the fluid looks good I drained it.

the problem trying to weld that is you now have oil saturated metal.
will be virtually impossible to get a clean weld.

unless you find someone that can wire mig aluminum (spool gun). they do
much better at spot welding and not getting the case hot like a tig welder does.

or.. yes.. replace the case and no more worries

I have a similar issue on an old 1977 Johnson 140...noticed a small oil leak on my driveway one day.Started cleaning up and sanding the paint off so I could see the crack better, and low and behold,I was sanding into a patch of JB Weld, that had been on there for no telling how long.So what did I do? More JB Weld, and now good for a few more years! Not a permanent repair by no means, but when a replacement lower unit costs more than the whole motor is worth,5 bucks worth of JB every few years makes good sense to me!Just gotta know it's there and keep an eye on it.

A used lower runs 700-1500. An after market can go for about a grand. Being stranded because your lower unit that you knew was cracked worth the money you save if it don't fail? If you have much mechanical inclination a lower is usually pretty easy to swap.
