I have a 2008 Evinrude E-TEC (new to me) and its about time to start adding some more oil to the tank. But I am completely lost as to what kind I need to use. I don't know whats in it already its still got some from the previous owner. Much prefer to be able to pick it up at a store opposed to ordering online.

The two oils recommended by Evinrude are xd50 and xd100. Until you can determine how the motor is programmed, I reccomend running xd100. Read up on etec owners website on the pros and cons of the different oils,

If it is a new to you motor, you will benefit by having a shop put the computer on it not only to see how it is programmed, but to also check for problem codes that may indicate a needed repair. That would also be a good time to do a scheduled maintenance on the motor, impeller, lower unit, spark plugs, etc. This is not a motor that you can tinker with in your garage.

Check domo-online for oil. If you buy by the case, it's cheaper delivered to your door than most dealers will sell it. I bought a three jug case and it came out to $37 delivered. The cheapest I've seen it at the shops was $34.50 and you have to have an Evinrude container, so you may as well buy it online. By the time you add sales tax, you are there.

They should print you a history that will show which oil it is programmed for..

Helps out fellers like me that need it in writing to remember it... clap

We sell the XD50 for $23.00 a gal and the XD100 for $29.00 a gal. We buy it bulk and put it in our bottles. The XD50 is blue and the XD100 is brown. Hope this helps.

That's a heck of a deal I was paying more than that for Yamalube. I'll have to bring my bottles the next time I'm driving through. My Etec appears to hardly use any oil. I have 23 hours on the motor and I think it's used 1/2 gallon of XD100 including the break in programming.

We don't need your bottles. We have it already pumped into our bottles.
