3 weeks ago, we caught 5 on a spook and Sammy at a night T on Lake Alan Henry. They were engulfing it and taking it deep. Nothing over 3 lbs, but it was fun fishing at night with a topwater. They were also hitting craw worms, too. Rick Clunn says it is NEVER too early to throw a buzz bait. Hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

The top water bite has been great for about a week or so in the ponds. I've been catching them on Spooks and frogs, as well as, top water poppers on my fly rod.

Yes for quite a while now. Water temps at Rayburn getting up to mid seventies by mid day. any top water lure will work with those temps. Frogs, spooks, buzzbaits, wakebaits, anything really.
I actually throw a top water for prespawn fish as early as Febuary with mid fifties water temps.

Hollow body frogs; Spook 1 knocker; buzzbait. It's that time of year!

I had some blow ups on my popper this past weekend fishing grass lines. The popper bite lasts about 30 minutes past the official sunrise, but I realized that they wanted a popper about 20 minuite after the official subrise, so I only had about 10 minuites of good popper fishing before It shut off. I landed one about 13 inches but I missed a few BIG BIG blowups.

I've been catching them on top for about a month now. Hollow-body frogs, Ribbit frogs, buzz baits, poppers, and some big, 10" lizards in the pads.

Caught some good ones a couple weekends ago on a LC Sammy 100 painted like a bluegill by Eric Gandy. They were smashing the thing!
