I've bought a couple reels from Ebay. Just double check the condition of the reels and how they've been used in the past(saltwater or not). If there's a problem, Ebay always has their 30-day buyer protection thing if the seller doesn't offer returns.

I've bought two used Chronarchs on Ebay. Never regretted the purchase of either.

I've bought 20 or so reels on eBay. I'll only buy new though. The majority of mine have come from Simmons. Great sellers.

Never any issues to date. One other thing I would look at is check the negative and neutral reviews and see if they have a consistent pattern. A seller can have 98 or 99% rating but when you sell 15000 items the negative reviews can be substantial.

I have done it and had one buyer sell me a reel that wouldn't spin. Had to fight with him to return it and get money back. It was a pita, but I have bought other reels with no issues what so ever. As some have suggested, definitely read the feedback to see if the seller has had any issues. I know I left a negative feedback after that experience.

I usually bid on the reels since the starting\minimum bid was way lower than the buy it now price. If it is a good item, it usually makes it up to the buy it now price, so it depends on how much stress and effort you want to endure going thru the bidding process.

I usually bid since I'm usually not in a hurry to get one bought.

Another good one is sportsmanoutfitters. Great customer service and very fast shipping +1...Call them, sometimes they will make you an even better deal than they have listed on Ebay. They are great to deal with.
