Its almost that time of year..iv been locating lots of offshore schools and targets and throwing marker bouys like I would in a power boat. Just wondering how you guys go about this method?

It depends what you are throwing and where the fish are, some times I use a drift sock some times an anchor. All depends on the presentation, wind, structure/cover I am fishing and how the fish are relating to it.

If there is a contour map of the lake available, I'll first head to an area with a multidirectional drop off (like a saddle) and look for submerged cover in that area (rocks/trees, etc) If there's a creek channel nearby, that's a bonus.



If I see lots of streaks, deep with bigger fish feeding on bait fish, I'll more than likely drop a spoon. Deep diving crankbait would be second choice, followed by soft plastic swimbait

Lakes with deep grass growing as deep at 20ft, I'll definitely fish the deep outside grass line with a drop shot and crig.
