What do you do differently in muddy water versus semi-clear? It's been tough lately catching mostly dinks. Do you switch to UV enhanced or glow baits to get better results? I'm already using slab slobber to add scent and nibbles for extra attraction. Just wondering what else to try besides scent. Also tried a roadrunner for a while as well.

Up size your presentation/profile and make them easier to see.I like to add more pinks,oranges,&reds to Chartrues I`m sure someone else will chime in.

We did good today in some pretty muddy water. I always use larger baits in bright colors. Usually works for me.

Try holding a larger jig tighter to cover, holding it still longer than normal until your about to cry, then twitch it. Roadrunner head and add rattles. Fish 4.5 to 10 FOW for bigger fish.

So longer than 5 seconds? j/k I've been told I have a tremendous amount of patience, but waiting for a crappie to bite on a slow day definitely pushes you to insanity! I think the twitch makes me want to eat the lures more than the crappie!

So would this be a good time to try jigs like Constant Pursuits Thump Chubby? I assume switching to brighter colors or jigs with flashes of bright colors would help?

Larger profile definitely. Dark colors with bright contrast. Lots of flash sometimes on dark baits. Also, black/orange or yellow/green if it's really muddy with visibility 2-3 inches. All the colors posted by Fishbonz will work well. Take a look at the Strawberry Seed Banana by Thermocline Lures; it's posted in the jig makers section. The Super Fry in that color will work in stained to muddy water.

What Ken had to say, plus try a lot of things and work them in a differ way as you go. The real fun of it is to load the boat when they are slow.

Typically I will go with darker colors that give a better silhouette but with that said a few weeks backs the crappie only wanted a blue/white color in dark stained water. Who knows what a fish wants. You might also use jighead with a spinner blade on it.
