I will be leading our scout troop on a canoe "race" on the Brazos below PK this Saturday. There are 6 and 14 mile paddles. All our youth will go the 6 mile but they will have fun.

Looks like the weekend will be nice. Tonight may be a little wet. That area is getting it now though. Perhaps I won't have to paddle as much as flow with the current.

Can't complain about the rain round here. We need every drop we can get.

I love canoe fishin. We usually rent one when we go to the Ouachita River in Arkansas on a 7 mile smallmouth loaded stretch we float.

Well it was a fun weekend. The kids did well and the weather was great. A nice tail wind to help the younger boys along, and us old farts, as well as relatively mild temps. Saw lots of fisherman, kids kayaking and a couple of air boats. One had two game wardens in it. I hate those loud things. They were kind enough to stop and say hello to the group on the bank. Really though that is probably the most effective way to travel that part of the river.
