Planning a trip for this weekend to take a friend out and rip some slabs. Can y'all help me decide between Gibbons or Somerville? Just don't know how this rain we've been having will mess with the fishing out there. Thanks in advance guys.

Hey there. Some customers of mine were doing good at Big Creek marina early Saturday morning. Now with the weather that happened between then and now, not sure. I do know that it has been slow on the other side of the lake near the dam, due to them letting out water. If you have a boat, i'd fish around the pilings just behind the marina at big creek. Hope this helps.

Well, been only to Gibbons twice - saw a few crappie caught but never caught anything. Saw plenty of cats caught. Been to Somerville and caught before. My choice would be the much larger Somerville rather than Gibbons.

I fished Somerville today and they are a biting!! Caught 15 on brush piles and the "tires" at Big Creek. They were 10-12 feet down in 15-20 feet of water hitting dirty chicken jigs and minnows (more on jigs). Light bites. Good luck!
