I'm having to go down to Waco for a half day of work and was wondering if there is any public fishing places on Lake Waco or would I need to drag my boat down to do any good? If I do take the boat, any pointers where I should start looking (never been on the lake)?

Any other help would be greatly appreciated.

You'd be a lot better off with a boat. There are a couple of places you might get lucky from the bank, but it's hit or miss. I see people fishing under the 185 bridge and Lake Shore almost every time I go out.

How about a float tube? Are they on the columns yet?

I fished Saturday during the tournament. We caught 5 keepers on the columns of the lakeshore bridge. It wasn't excellent fishing but we managed a few before moving to the brush piles that the core of engineers put out. I spoke to someone that fished all the way shallow by the lakeshore bridge and they did about the same. He used jigs and I used minnows. I wouldn't know where to tell you to go to catch your limit that's for sure. The 185 is good also, If you are in a float watch for snakes.

Still catching them on the south Bosque.
1 Brushpile and stumps did us justice today.
Until our trolling motor crashed.
Sending PM

Midway is on the East side of highway 6 and there's another ramp on the west Side.

If you launch at Midway you can work back to Hawg Creek. Been pretty good back there lately. As soon as you enter the creek start hitting the stumps on the left. They have been scattered at different depths but every few boat lengths you can pull in a keeper.

For some reason I don't care that much for the Midway ramp. If I fish that end I usually use the one by the beach.

I haven't been in Hog in a bit. Last time we were in there we caught some whites (wasn't trying to catch these fellers), a couple nicer largemouths and 1 crappie. We were going to try it last time we were out but ran out of daylight and didn't want to deal with the skeeters.

Funny story about that trip...We were heading towards the creek and noticed a boat was coming up on us pretty fast. I told the gf I wonder if these guys know where they are going, I hope they know this isn't the Bosque. Looked like they were going to try to pass us on the right but then they tucked back in behind us. We went way back in the creek and these guys were still following us. They even went past the bridge after we had tied up. I told the gf they might not like that too much and out came some paddles and they were turning around. We made our way back toward the lake a bit as both boats were fishing our ways out. We ended up chatting a bit and sure enough they thought they were in the river looking for where their buddy had told them where he was catching all the fish (whites). Gave them directions and they were on their way. Wonder if they ever made it.
