Hi yall, well, earlier this month, I made a trip to Petersham Mass. To purchase a "new to me" boat. She's a 2004 Carolina Classic 25. Volvo diesel with jackshaft outdrive. Meaning the engine is mounted mid ship and hook via driveshaft to an outdrive.

Anyway, we decided to try an afternoon trip to CC on Thursday to run her a little and see if any hybrids were diwneast in the lower lake.

Sure enough, after we got our spread out, it wasn't long before we started getting multiple hits and putting 6-8 lb fish on deck. Just about the time that fishing got good, a storm blew up from the southwest and there was much lightening around. Not wanting to quit, we ran to hide under the new bridge at Caney City. After the storm mostly passed we headed back towards Crappie island and reset.
The fish were still around but spread out and the bite slowed enough that we decided to go load back up before it got dark. New boat is a bit of a different beast to load and we wanted the first time to be in the light.
Ended up catching 21 hybrids most ranging from 5-8 lbs. a couple shorts and a couple big sandies.

Today, I wanted to go back to CC and try to retune my Autopilot and fish a little. Got to the lake and put in at chamber isle. Lake was rough with wind blowing from the northwest around 20kts. New boat ate it up and the 24* deadrise let us run to Crappie island at 28 kts. No hammering or nothing.
Set out spread and started catching pretty quick. Did I mention it was rough? We proceeded to catch some nice sized hybrids to 8 lbs. and just had a good time. Getting a triple twice and a handful of double takedowns. No one else out there and the waves were helping give the lures some gh bood action. All our fish were caught on the northeast side of humps in 30+/- foot of water. Total today was 12. Fishing around 1 1/2 hrs or so.

Getting used to the electronics and systems on the boat is what we mostly did. How the boat reacted and handled. Everything is way different than my Grady White and this boat actually responds like a much larger boat. She weighs in at 8500 lbs dry. Add 165 gal of diesel and well, it's much different. Lol.

Hope to get her up on Texoma soon and of course the reason I own her is to have the range and ride to get to the floater rigs out of Freeport and deep water out of Port Aransas. (Lake fishing is a second love.)

Not a lot of pics on my phone. But here's a few from gaurs day and today
